ST3500418AS 3.5” HDD Data Recovery
A customer contacted us to diagnose for his 500GB Seagate Barracuda ST3500418AS 3.5” hard drive. The hard drive was from an Apple iMac, it’s an old iMac belongs to his father. The iMac has stopped working many years ago. He removed the HDD from the iMac and tried to access it as an external hard drive, but his computer failed to detect the drive, he tried reconnecting the hard drive again, but it’s still the same. He can feel the hard drive is spinning and working, just that undetectable. This drive holds many old photos and videos, he hopes to get his data back.
He set an appointment with our EHDR customer service officer before sending his storage drive to our centre for assessment. The customer service team assists to register all details and summit the case for our Singapore data recovery specialist for diagnosis. Our recovery specialist checked through the hard drive and found that the health condition was 0%, but there were no clicking or beeping sound encounter. During the diagnosis, the hard drive can still be powered up and the motor spins up successfully. Unfortunately, the read/write heads of the drive were faulty, which affected the platter, unreadable sectors found.
The data recovery was successful, and we manage to recover the data from the hard drive. We transferred the recovered data to a new external hard drive for our client. He checked the data and happy with the result of the recovery.
