Inaccessible Boot Device Windows 10 SSD
SSD is Not Accessible
A customer engaged us to diagnose an NVMe SK Hynix 256GB Solid-State-Drive (SSD), which is an internal SSD used on a laptop. When she was using the laptop and it suddenly died and black screen. She tried to power on the laptop again but was unsuccessful, it was able to power up and shows the BIOS screen but failed to boot into Windows, it prompts no storage device detected. She brought the laptop to the service center for a check, they changed a new motherboard for her and tried again but it is still not working. They tried changing a new SSD on the old motherboard and the laptop successfully power up and boot into windows. The motherboard of the laptop is working fine but the SSD is faulty. The SSD contains a lot of her work data and email files.
EHDR’s data recovery specialist checked the SSDand found that it is not detectable or accessible. The SSDis faulty and a short circuit is found on the SSD. Data recovery is still possible if the memory chip and controller of the SSDare not faulty, chip off will be required for data recovery. After the confirmation, we proceed with the chip-off data recovery. The controller and memory chip was removed from the faulty SSDand tried to access data from the memory chip. We manage to get access the memory chip and recover the data from the memory chip.
We managed to recover the data from the SSD and the data are in their original name and structure. Our client checked the data and was very happy with the result of the recovery.
If you have a faulty storage device, it is advisable to power off the storage device and looks for a Singapore data recovery center to diagnose and recover the data to avoid data loss.
