Macbook Stuck On The Update Screen
Macbook Pro Stuck When Updating
A customer contacted us to diagnose his MacBook Pro A1398, the laptop is fine and did not encounter any issue or glitch before. But it stopped working while updating the Operating System. While updating, the process got stuck. According to the customer, it shows that the remaining estimated time is only 1 minute, and it was left aside. The MacBook has been left aside for 30 minutes, but it has no progress at all. Subsequently, he forced this MacBook to restart, but it remained the same.
There has no option for the user to skip or stop the update and the updating process will run automatically when the MacBook boots up. He went to a place to check, and they mentioned the memory is too full and it causes the update to fail, the MacBook must be reformatted, and the data are irrecoverable. He has a lot of important data that needs to be recovered.
Our data recovery specialist checked the MacBook, it is chargeable, the display is workable, and no issue was found on the hardware. In the meantime, they had verified that the MacBook was frozen on the 1-minute screen when the update is almost complete. Further assessment was done on the NAND Flash chip. Fortunately, the SSD of this MacBook remained healthy and working.
Our data recovery specialist manages to recover the data from his MacBook. We transferred the recovered data to an external hard drive for him. He checked through all the data and was relieved that all the data were recovered.
